Information on Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

SLS Information

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a very effective foaming agent, chemically known as a surfactant.

It is now known that these chemicals can be irritants to some people. Soap is not recommended for use on babies and young children due to the potential damage that can be caused to young skin and eyes.

Research has also shown that there may be a link between the increased use of these chemicals and the increase in cases of health problems concerning PMS, Menopausal symptoms, and some types of cancers.

While this can all sound a bit on the scary side please remember that this chemical is extremely common and can be found in virtually all shampoos, soaps and toothpaste. In fact in anything that foams! So this makes it hard to avoid it.
